Our Team

Dr. Johnson is the new owner of Jackson Vision and practices as a primary care optometrist. He graduated with distinction from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2014. He practices full-scope optometry, which includes diabetic eye exams, glaucoma evaluation and management, pre and post-operative surgical co-management, and other forms of ocular health evaluations.

While glasses and contact lenses are the staple of his practice, he enjoys educating patients on the health of their eyes to ensure vision is experienced and preserved to the fullest potential.

Dr. A.J. enjoys traveling and golfing with his wife, Sara, whom he met in optometry school. He's delighted to be able to work along side both her and his father as fellow eye care practitioners. He also loves raising his daughter, Elle, to be a golfer and sports fan. Dr. A.J. loves attending sporting events, almost any type of candy, and all things golf.

Dr. Sara graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry with highest distinction. After graduation, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Specialty Eye Institute in Jackson. As an optometrist, Dr. Sara enjoys seeing patients of any age range, but she especially enjoys working with patients who may have glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetes. 

Dr. Sara married Dr. A.J. in 2017. They met when she was a 1st year student in Optometry school in her hometown of Big Rapids, MI. They like to spend their free time golfing, traveling and raising their daughter, Elle. She is looking forward to meeting new patients and establishing a long career at Jackson Vision and Chelsea Vision Care.

Dr. Steve was one of the owners of Jackson Vision for almost 30 years before selling the practice to his son, Dr. A.J. His favorite part about eye care is educating patients about their eye health and sharing advice with patients to help with their daily visual demands. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Steve dedicates most of his time to his nine children and numerous grandchildren. He loves to golf and is a master of dad jokes. He married his high-school sweetheart, Kristi, and together, they love hosting their friends and family at their lake house south of Jackson. He's proud that three of his nine children have followed in his footsteps as fellow eye care practitioners.

Kelsey is our ophthalmic technician with over 5 years of experience. She helps with patient flow efficiency in the clinic. She pretests patients prior to their exam with Dr. Johnson, and she plays a vital role in updating patient charts by reviewing medical and ocular history. Should any extra testing become necessary, Kelsey also runs visual fields, takes retinal photos and performs OCT scans.

Outside of the clinic, Kelsey is a wife to her husband Ian and a mother to her two rambunctious boys, Elliot and Liam. She also dabbles a little into the arts like painting and drawing when she finds the time.
